Dimitar Zahariev is a Bulgarian actor, born in 1984. From a young age, he shows artistic drive, impulsively turning to acting, which leads him to one of the most prestigious Bulgarian schools for performing arts. In 2010, he graduated from NATFIZ „Krastyo Sarafov“, majoring in „Acting for Dramatic Theatre“, in the class of Prof. Zdravko Mitkov.
His big break on stage came during his student years, when he performed several significant roles: Grimov and the Teapot in „I'm Leaving” by Aleksey Slagovski, Benny in „Rent” by John Larson, and Count Paris in „Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare. After graduating, in 2011, he performed in regional drama theatres — in Blagoevgrad and Vidin.
His television career is solid as well: Dimitar Zahariev appears in the popular series „Stolen Life: Critical Point“, in the role of Dr. Anton Kovachev. This role presents him as part of the young generation of actors who take part in significant television productions and establish themselves with a wide audience. He is also known for his performances in theatre productions such as „Three Terrified Miniatures“, „Escape from Moscow“, „The Long-Nosed Dwarf“, „Hamelin“ and others. He received an „Askeer“ 2012 nomination for the role of James in „Escape from Moscow” by William Nicholson.
In recent years, Zahariev has taken part in theatrical comedies that are widely popular with audiences. His newest appearance is in the production „Desperate Husbands 2: Scrapped“. This sequel to the French comedy involves some of the most popular actors on the contemporary Bulgarian stage — Vladimir Zombori, Daniel Peev, Yavor Baharov — as well as Zahariev. The premiere is on December 3, the production is by Artvent Theatre, directed by Vasil Duev-Tayg.
His working style is distinguished by the professionalism with which he approaches stage roles, the ability to switch between dramatic and comedic tasks, and his desire to participate in productions that engage both with subject matter and with entertainment. Audiences and critics often note that he contributes to the team not only as an actor but also as a presence that brings stability. For example, in „Desperate Husbands / Desperate Husbands 2: Scrapped“ a musical atmosphere is also used — guitar — which is part of the sound that complements the dramaturgy and the comedy.
In carrying out these contemporary comedy productions, Zahariev proves to be a performer who does not simply create a character, but participates actively in the dynamic exchange with the audience — in the stage situations, the dialogue, and the improvisations that are often mentioned in reviews. It is precisely this combination of academic training, theatrical experience, and the field of popular comedic stage art that brings him a good reputation in the theatre community.
Dimitar Zahariev is an actor with deep stage training, with numerous roles both in dramatic theatre and in popular television series and live comedies. His participation in „Desperate Husbands 2: Scrapped“ is his latest major stage project, which combines humor, action, and interaction with the audience, and affirms his status as one of the interesting actors of the new generation.
