Teodora Duhovnikova (born Teodora Ivanova) is a Bulgarian actress, known for her theatrical roles as well as her participation in film and television. She was born in December 1977 in Sofia. She graduated from the National Academy of Dramatic Arts and Film "Krastyo Sarafov" in 2000, in the class of Prof. Snezina Tankovska and Andrey Batashov.
Her work on stage is diverse and includes roles in dramatic theater, but also in plays with provocative themes that allow for discussion, conflicts and discussions of morality and personal freedom.
One of her more recent projects is the play "Don't Say That!" (a French comedy by the author Salome Lellouche), in which she partnered with Zahari Baharov, directed by Yavor Gardev. Its premiere took place in Burgas on September 12, 2023 at the Summer Theater.
The theme of “Don’t Say That!” covers questions about how strong and dangerous the truth can be, how words are used in relationships between the sexes, what it means to speak or not to speak, and how the verbal frequency of communication can create or destroy trust. The comedy is saturated with sharp dialogues, character conflicts — Baharov’s character is described as “without scruples, a provocateur who does not keep quiet,” and Duhovnikova’s heroine — as “without a filter, arrogant, impudent.”
The set design in the production is by Svila Velichkova; the translation of the play is by Snezina Zdravkova. Teodora Duhovnikova, with her participation in this performance, demonstrates her ability to deal with strong characters who are not afraid to express insecurity, anger, love, insistence on the truth - qualities that bring her respect from both theater critics and the audience.
Outside of "Don't Say That!", Duhovnikova has had a rich career. She has participated in numerous film and television projects, as well as in drama theater with classical and contemporary productions. (Some of her more popular film and TV roles include...) She was also physically the victim of a car accident in 2013, in which she broke her spine, and this became an important moment in her life, which brought her even stronger motivation for her acting work.
