Istorii s Ivaylo Kunev

We are celebrating 10 years since the release of the audiobook "The Forgotten Stories of Bulgaria. 7 Leadership Lessons"

"Stories about leaders with Ivaylo Kunev"
The past as the engine of the future

Come to a special celebration for all connoisseurs of the audiobook "The Forgotten Stories of Bulgaria. 7 Leadership Lessons".
We celebrate the inspiration from the exciting stories masterfully told by Ivaylo Kunev.
At a special event, we will celebrate 10 years since the release of the audiobook, which has been listened to tens of thousands of hours on the Storytel platform.

Ivaylo Kunev has prepared a special motivational speech and will tell some of the remarkable stories live.

In 2016 a non-standard book format appeared on the Bulgarian market. Ivaylo Kunev collected and told the stories of exceptional Bulgarians - people who, despite limitations and circumstances, created and achieved incredible achievements.
Stories that move, touch the heart and serve as an example for us today.

The audiobook collected seven stories about Bulgarians and their extraordinary deeds, which teach and inspire us to put aside our typical lack of faith that something significant can happen here.

More about the author: Ivaylo Kunev
Ivaylo Kunev is an inspiring storyteller, motivational trainer and author of four books that quickly became bestsellers. The audio book "The Forgotten Stories of Bulgaria. 7 Lessons for Leadership" occupies a special place among them.
For his team and personal trainings, he develops individual programs with the help of which he transforms managers into leaders and prepares them to climb to a new management level in their companies.

Ivaylo Kunev's aspiration, as a consultant, trainer and author, is to help representatives of large, medium and small businesses achieve success and satisfaction in every area of their lives. He is a frequent guest at conferences, annual meetings and special events of large companies, where he is invited to give a motivational speech. Telling compelling stories is his primary tool. It excites and wins over audiences, and manages to convey to your teams the message you want them to hear and take to heart.

What makes this anniversary evening special is not only the occasion, but the method: Ivaylo Kunev’s trademark blend of vivid storytelling followed by a clear, usable leadership model. He recounts a gripping episode, then distills the decisions, constraints and behaviors into a pattern you can try the very next day with your team.

If you know the audiobook on Storytel, you’ll recognize some of the arcs that spark discussion long after the applause: Khan Tervel’s foresight and preparation; General Stefan Toshev’s Dobrudja campaign and the discipline behind it; the Bdin Division at the Red Wall as a masterclass in teamwork under pressure; General Vladimir Vazov at Doyran and the value of respecting your adversary; entrepreneur Pencho Semov and the hard work that outlives the myth of “easy gold.” Each story lands with a practical point about how leaders plan, decide and communicate in real life.

The project has since grown beyond audio. Kunev gathered fourteen narratives in the print volume “The Leaders: The Forgotten Stories of Bulgaria,” which he presented on BNT 1’s morning show 100% Budni on January 9, 2024, highlighting how historical choices become modern leadership playbooks. His broader work as a trainer and consultant also includes the productivity framework STRETCH and the companion Stretch Planner, plus sales-focused audio trainings such as “Ready to Sell?”—useful context for anyone curious how he turns inspiration into systems.

Why attend

  • Hear several stories performed live, then unpacked into concrete principles you can test with your team meetings, client conversations or classroom discussions.
  • See how to translate values like courage, preparation and unity into day‑to‑day rituals: pre‑mortems, after‑action reviews, and short narrative briefs that align people before execution.
  • Collect historically anchored anecdotes you can retell—grounded, memorable and far more persuasive than slide bullets.

Who will get the most from this session

  • Team leads and founders seeking credible, culture‑building stories for onboarding and all‑hands.
  • Middle managers looking for language to motivate across functions without formal authority.
  • Educators and community organizers who want Bulgarian history to double as a leadership toolkit.

Expect an evening that feels half masterclass, half live storytelling theatre. It’s fast, concrete and rooted in names and events you can fact‑check—exactly the kind of material that sticks when pressure rises. Bring a notebook; some of these stories are meant to be carried back to your team on Monday morning.
