"Romantic: One Night in Latin" is an invitation to the audience to experience a different November evening - warmer, more beautiful and closer to the heart.
Two artists with very different roots meet on common musical ground. Orlin Goranov — a Bulgarian pop icon who moved with ease into opera and screen acting — brings the velvety phrasing that earned him international prizes, including the Golden Orpheus first prize in 1984, and a starring turn in the hit film Mission London. Across from him is soprano Edelina Kaneva, a long‑time soloist on Sofia’s lyric stages, celebrated for leading roles in Tosca and Il trovatore and for crossing into musical theatre with titles like MAMMA MIA!. When they share a stage, the repertoire opens up: pop standards sit beside theatre duets and evergreen romances, always sung as stories.
This edition looks south—through the pulse of Latin music. Expect the tenderness of the Cuban bolero, the dramatic shadow of tango, the sway of Brazilian bossa nova and the sparkle of Caribbean dance rhythms. Their contrasting timbres make space for playful call‑and‑response, whispered confessions, then soaring climaxes. Between numbers, the artists are known to add brief anecdotes that frame each song, turning a setlist into a narrative arc.
Goranov and Kaneva have toured Bulgaria in duet programs that blend musical‑theatre favorites with much‑loved Bulgarian songs; audiences come for the virtuosity and stay for the sincerity. That same balance carries into this Latin evening, where melodies familiar from film, radio and the stage are reimagined with new tempos, modulations and instrumental colors. No matter your entry point — opera, pop, or dance — you’ll recognize yourself somewhere in the set.
