Simona Atanasova Bakalova is a Bulgarian actress and singer, born on 4 November 2002 in Stara Zagora. From an early age, she showed interest in music and the performing arts. She graduated from a high school with specialized languages — Spanish and English, which gave her a solid foundation for free communication and participation in international projects. Her path to acting goes through the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts „Krastyo Sarafov“, where she is a student in the specialty „Acting for Puppet Theatre“ in the class of Assoc. Prof. Boryana Georgieva.

 

Her professional debut was in 2024 on the stage of the Youth Theatre „Nikolay Binev“ with the production „Don’t Forget to Sign“ directed by Prof. Rumen Rachev. This is her first major role before a wide audience, which places her in the context of contemporary Bulgarian theatre and gives her confidence for the next steps.

 

One of her most important engagements, however, is in the large-scale musical project of the Ruse Opera — the musical „Zorro“. In the production, Simona Bakalova plays the role of Luisa Pulido, a central female figure who stands alongside the character of Vladimir Zombori — Zorro. For the young actress and singer this is a significant role, because it combines vocal skills, acting, and stage charisma. Her partnership with Zombori and the other members of the ensemble demonstrates her capacity to be an equal partner to already established names.

 

Simona also has solid experience in dubbing. She is part of the teams that work for the studios „Doli Media Studio“, „Alexandra Audio“ and „Pro Films“. Among the characters to whom she has lent her voice are Astrid from „How to Train Your Dragon“, Nani from „Lilo & Stitch“ and characters from productions by Disney, DreamWorks and Universal.

The public also knows her from the television format „The Voice of Bulgaria“, in which she participated in season 8 as part of Lyubo Kirov’s team. This participation provided an additional stage for the display of her vocal skills and connected her with a wider audience.

 

As an artist, Simona Bakalova is characterized by versatility. She combines the skills of an actress, singer, and dubbing artist, which allows her to be part of diverse cultural productions. In just a few years she has managed to gain experience in various fields – theatre, musicals, dubbing, television.
