„Extraordinarily in Love“ – theater that proves that love knows no boundaries
Love is the greatest mystery and the simplest explanation at the same time. It is the spark that makes us laugh, cry, make mistakes, and start over. This multifaceted, unpredictable, and often comical energy comes to life on stage in the stand-up comedy show „Extraordinarily in Love“.
Based on eight true love stories, the production turns reality into theater and the theater – into a mirror of life. Three talented actresses tell, act out, and dance these stories for the audience, each bringing her own unique color. The result is a show in which emotions, humor, tenderness, and surprises mingle.
Here, love appears in the most unexpected places. In the speed of two cars chasing each other on the highway. In the thrill at a school desk, where love notes are written for the first time. In a piece of chocolate, shared or eaten in a single breath. In the dress that changes everything. In the explosion in a hotel room, where boundaries blur. In the thousands of questions after a short message that can turn a whole life upside down. In the memories of Grandma Nadya, which take us back to a time when love was pure and unadulterated. And even in the gentle chime of the most beautiful bell.
The script is by Zdrava Kamenova, Bogdana Trifonova and Svetoslav Tomov, who collect real stories and give them new life – sometimes funny, sometimes moving, always sincere. The musical atmosphere, created by Ivo Spasov, envelops the stage and complements the emotion with rhythm and mood.
„Extraordinarily in Love“ is not just a show for people in love. It is a show for everyone – for those who are looking for love, for those who keep it, for those who lose it and find it again. Every viewer will see themselves in at least one of the stories, because love is a universal language that knows no barriers.
This performance doesn't moralize, doesn't give recipes, and doesn't promise a happy ending. It shows love as it is – funny, dramatic, wild, and gentle. One thing is certain – it will make you smile, recognize yourself, and leave the theater with that warm feeling that life is more beautiful when it is „extraordinarily in love“.
What sets this love-comedy apart? A nimble hybrid form. The evening moves like a playlist: razor‑sharp stand‑up, confessional storytelling, quick character switches and bursts of choreography, all cued by playful sound design. The result is a living collage of eight true tales about romance in Bulgaria today—told with a wink, but never without heart.
Who’s on stage: three audience favorites with distinct voices. Stefania Koleva brings the timing of a seasoned theatre lead (she is an actress of the National Theatre “Ivan Vazov” and a Monte‑Carlo Television Festival nominee in 2010). Zdrava Kamenova, known as both performer and playwright, was distinguished with the Brücke Berlin literary prize for the script “Home for Sheep and Dreams,” a hint at how precisely she can distill human feeling. Bogdana Trifonova—radio host and actress—adds a broadcaster’s instinct for rhythm and audience rapport, honed every morning behind the mic at BG Radio’s “Starter.” Different energies, one tight ensemble.
A show with a backstory: “Extraordinarily in Love” grows out of the trio’s ongoing “Izvanredno” project. After their hit “State of Emergency,” this second chapter zooms in on matters of the heart. The team later proved their following with the large‑scale spin‑off “Extraordinarily Special,” which filled Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture with thousands of viewers—proof that their blend of humor and sincerity resonates well beyond small venues and tours across cities from Burgas to Veliko Tarnovo.
What you’ll experience tonight
Come for the laughs; stay for the surprising aftertaste. The show’s punchlines tend to boomerang—hours later you catch the subtext about choice, chance and how we tell our own stories. If sharp Bulgarian comedy about relationships is your thing, you might also enjoy the mischievous twists of Lyubov po scenariy v HOLLYWOOD or the marital mayhem of Otchayani sapruzi 2: Brakuvani. Prefer bittersweet confessionals? Try Vsicho tova e tya. For a darker comic edge, the satirical nerve of Kod Jalto and the quirky logic of Idiotyt zvyni vinagi tri pyti make fitting companions on your theatre list.
Language: Bulgarian. Expect frank talk, quick improvisational beats and a pace that keeps you leaning forward. Couples, singles, cynics and romantics sit side by side here—and often laugh at the very same line.
