MONA presents “Alive”
MONA presents „Alive“ on March 5, 2027, at Pirotska 5 Event Center
After the release of her debut album „Alive“, MONA is preparing a special show with a new concert program. The audience will hear live the songs in which she combines contemporary pop sound and Bulgarian folklore in her recognizable style - Gen Z folklore.
On stage with her will again be the musicians from MONAVISION BAND. They will be joined by guest musicians and dancers, and the specially created stage design will transport the audience into the world of „Alive“. There will be sign language interpretation during the concert.
About the artist and the new album
MONA is the stage name of singer–songwriter Simona Petrova, the young voice behind the self‑coined style “Gen Z folklore” — sleek pop writing laced with Bulgarian vocal ornamentation and folk motifs. Her debut full‑length, titled “Zhiva,” arrived on October 9, 2026 with 12 tracks produced together with Denis Popstoev and collaborators from the contemporary scene, including Mila Robert, Tino and Robi. The record is distributed by Warner Music via Orpheus Music and threads a clear narrative through the trilogy “Zhiva,” “Sila” and “Davam,” all written by MONA herself.
Highlights to listen for live
- Luna — a shimmering duet with Lyubo Kirov released June 2, 2026; fans of his work can explore more here: Lubo Kirov 2026.
- Male — MONA’s emotive team‑up with Robi (2025), a fan favorite that underscores her pop instincts.
- Zemya — the opening track on the album, bridging authentic folk textures with modern production.
- Nagore — a fresh take inspired by “Ripni, Kalinke,” bringing asymmetric folk pulse into a pop framework.
- Pobeda — a recent single celebrating Bulgarian sporting achievements, crafted for big‑room sing‑alongs.
Stagecraft and the MONAVISION sound
MONA’s core live unit, the MONAVISION band, features guitarist Ilin Papazyan, keyboardist Viktor Kostov, bassist Kaloyan Minchev and drummer Emilio Marholev — a tight quartet that moves nimbly between cinematic builds and dance‑floor grooves. Expect dynamic arrangements where synth pads and guitar harmonics lift the choruses while the rhythm section anchors the folkloric phrasing.
Visual language
Her videos are a key part of the story. “Davam” — directed by Victoria Karakoleva — is noted for striking imagery, including eight‑metre braids crafted by Anastasia Dimitrova, while earlier visuals for “Zhiva” documented MONA’s authorship from lyric to studio. Across projects she consistently emphasizes inclusion, often weaving sign language performance on screen to echo the songs’ messages.
Context in Bulgaria’s current pop moment
In 2026 MONA reached the televised final of Bulgaria’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, which amplified her audience and placed her alongside peers leading the country’s resurgent pop wave. If you’re tracking this new guard, you’ll also meet fellow finalist Preyah — see her show here: Preyah "LAVA" Concert.
