Ot vsichki strani

If money, happiness, and love are missing from your life, it's time to seek the services of the phenomenal fortune-teller Imelda and her unconventionally minded friends, who pour all their energy into escaping their own married life. The services they seek, however, go beyond ordinary expectations. The only way to open the viewers' chakras to the family dramas of all the participants in the longest-running Czech comedy is to cover the erupting volcano of misunderstandings and comic paradoxes with raucous and prolonged laughter.

Built on a contemporary Czech hit by playwrights Roman Vencl and Michaela Doleželová, this Bulgarian staging puts relationships under a comic microscope, where small lies snowball and “good intentions” ricochet from one couple to the other. A television clairvoyant named Imelda, her bookish partner, and their closest friends find themselves testing the limits of honesty, loyalty, and self-delusion. The result isn’t just a bedroom farce; it’s a brisk social comedy about the stories we tell to protect love—and the chaos that follows when those stories collide.

Who’s on stage

  • Alexandra Sarchadzhieva and Stefania Koleva lead with razor timing and a talent for turning awkward truths into punchlines.
  • Real‑life brothers Darin Angelov and Deyan Angelov play off each other with sly, quicksilver energy.
  • Direction by Nikolay Gunderov keeps the momentum high and the twists landing beat after beat.
  • Original music by Dobromir Kisov threads through the action, nudging scenes from flirty to frantic in seconds.

Vencl and Doleželová’s comedies have been embraced across Czech stages since the early 2010s for their nimble dialogue and everyday recognizability. That DNA is intact here: confessions arrive at the worst possible moment; a “harmless” plan refuses to stay harmless; and everyone is sure they’re the reasonable one. Expect fast entrances and exits, split‑second reversals, and characters who cling to their explanations until the truth finally outshouts them.

What audiences can expect

  • Sharp, contemporary language—relatable without slipping into clichés.
  • Physical comedy calibrated to the millimeter, balanced with verbal zing.
  • Themes that hit close to home: privacy in long relationships, the cost of small secrets, the allure of magical fixes.
  • A breezy runtime feel that makes the surprises—and the after‑show debates—arrive early and often.

If domestic mix‑ups and razor-edged banter are your thing, this production sits comfortably alongside crowd favorites on our site. Fans of couple‑centric comedies might also enjoy the marital mayhem in Otchayani sapruzi 2: Brakuvani or the Friday-night confessions of Petak vecher. Looking for more quick-witted chaos? Try the telephone torpedoes of Idiotyt zvyni vinagi tri pyti or the sharp corporate satire of Bez garanciya.

No prior knowledge of Czech theatre is required; the jokes and predicaments land on their own. Come for the farce mechanics, stay for the way they illuminate everyday love—messy, hopeful, and, when seen from all sides, unexpectedly tender.
