I'll Stay for a Little While
What happens when a woman returns after a three-year absence? A man
tries to keep the peace and order, while their daughter chooses her „now“?
„I'll Stay for a Little While“ is a comedy-drama play about unspoken words, fears, and
unpredictable tenderness.
Amid misunderstandings and funny situations, the characters realize that forgiveness is the
bravest gesture, and „for a little while“ is everything you need to keep going.
Behind the curtain
Created for the stage by the Bulgarian screenwriters Alexander Chobanov and Lilo Petrov, this production brings together a quartet of actors with sharp comic instincts and dramatic depth. The stage belongs to Stefania Koleva and Gerasim Georgiev – Gero, joined by Katya Ivanova and Aleksandar Grigorov; on select dates you may also see co-director Dimitar Zhivkov step into the cast. The show premiered at Artvent Theatre in Sofia on 19 November and has since been touring nationwide, with recent stops including Gabrovo, Yambol and Burgas.
Why it resonates
Rather than grand gestures, the drama zeroes in on small, telling moments: the pause before a truth is spoken, the joke that lands a beat too late, the door left half‑open. It’s built as a chamber piece where timing rules—snappy exchanges flare into silence, then soften into unexpected warmth. Audiences have praised the lively rhythm and the way the story balances laughter with hard-earned honesty, allowing space for three perspectives to clash and converge without slipping into melodrama.
The creative signature
Expect crisp, contemporary Bulgarian writing, performances that lean into nuance, and a staging that treats everyday choices as the true turning points. The result is a brisk evening that lingers—witty, disarming, and recognizably close to home.
Keeping company with these titles, “I’ll Stay for a Little While” stands out for its intimate scale and truthful humor—proof that the smallest returns can spark the biggest reckonings.
